I love “world at night” pictures and being able to see electricity consumption around the world.
While I dont know much about the Global Energy Network Institute, I do know they have one of the most informative “World at Night” posts I’ve seen. While the base picture is from NASA, they provide a lot of great data to go along with it.
While this does illustrate the problem of light pollution (read National Geographic’s great article about it or visit Dark-Sky Association’s website), it does make for a beautiful picture.
There’s something refreshing to be able to visualize energy data 
too bad we couldn’t just put it all on a big power strip and flick the switch!
