The Green Millionaire : Buyer Beware!

I recently had a friend and reader suggest I check out this great new free book he found called The Green Millionaire.  He said I could get a free copy at the website (I’m not even going to link to their site because it’s too close to a scam for my taste).  When I went there, I saw something that looked very “scammish”.  Anything promising “free” anything immediately sets off my alarm signals.  So I did a little digging (a.k.a. google) and found this article from Fibomercials and Scams.

Basically, you sign up for the “free” book and they need your credit card for the $1 “shipping and handling” charge.  But the devil is in the details!  The fine print says:

*Start your free trial today and we will also send you a free 14 day subscription to The Green Millionaire eMagazine. Just pay a $1.00 processing fee. You will have 14 days to try The Green Millionaire eMagazine and discover how to become wealthier while saving the planet. If you like the simple, powerful solutions presented in the program, do nothing. At the end of your free trial period you will be charged the discounted price of $29.95, and every 60 days thereafter.

And then gives you the number to call to cancel your  subscription.  I wonder how hard it is to get through to a live person?

—Check out our forum if you are interested in venting on the “Green Millionaire”

After doing my research I asked my friend to check his credit card bill and guess what?  Here was his reply:

Argghh!!!  Looks like I’m in the scam wheel.  I didn’t even know it was from an infomercial (which I never watch).  I think I found the link through another referral.

Well I got the book, and it’s OK.  Nothing earth shattering, but some good ideas.  I’ll give you my copy if you want it… I’m too pissed to hold on to it.  They did charge me $29.95.  I will dispute with my CC company, and maybe cancel my card.

So, if you need some green tips then go ahead and get your “Green Millionaire” book,  pay $29.95 every 60 days or take the trouble to cancel your “subscription”.  Or you can read this blog and the other great resources that are out there that cost you nothing.  I won’t say it’s free though because I do “force” you to glance at ads.  Hey, a guy has to eat (I just bough some nice grass-fed steaks) doesn’t he?

• Folks wake up and smell the coffee!! Read ALL THE ATTACHED material before you press the “I AGREE” button and place an order on ANY WEB SITE. When you examine the “terms and conditions” and the “privacy policy” of the company you are ordering from for a “free” offer you will see how slick they operate in the background. Their modus operendi is to have you agree with their terms without reading them. When you do this you have agreed to cancel the not-so-free add on items like a newsletter subscription, revolving monthly charges for access to their “private” web site or other recurring monthly charges that if you don’t read all the material you will find out later on you montly credit card bill. To combat this nonsense you may complain to the Federal Trade Commission. Also if you call your credit card company and state you card has been lost and the charges you have on your bill are not yours. They will send you a new card with a new account number and chances are they will collect the money from the scam company, refuse payment to them or access an escrow account the company has to refund unauthorized charges. In any event the credit card company/bank will not loose money and your new account will prevent the scam company from charging you monthly. NEVER give a company your checking account number to one of these companies as they will empty it out before you know what happened and there is little or no recourse for this. Remember: “buyer beware”.

As a green millionaire agent… let me say WE ARE NOT A SCAM! I take countless calls from customers like yourselves every day bitching of how they were charged and scammed. If only you would take the time to read our terms and conditions on our website which is clearly marked in large, BOLD print as saying The Green Millionaire Emagazine Terms and Conditions, convienently placed right before you enter your credit card information. Also our terms and conditions are printed on the invoice sent with your book. Do you take the time to open the package the book comes in, or do you notice a charge on your bank statement and then realize you were charged and call us to complain? more than likely it’s the latter. Also there isn’t a point in trying to report us to the bbb, Attorney General, your bank or credit card company. The reason that is, is because these company’s all have their investigative teams who will investigate our terms and conditions, call us to confirm the terms and conditions that you didn’t bother to read and will side with us. Therefore you will feel like an idiot for ordering something you didn’t bother reading in the first place. So to save yourself aggravation… as a general rule… ANY website that asks you for your credit card number should be a red flag to read the terms and conditions. Please do this before you call us to order and waste your time. Go green!

• Chris

GM Agent, I appreciate your comment. And I will agree that Green millionaire are not a scam in the traditional sense. But, will you agree that you market the product in a misleading way? Just because you put something in the terms and conditions doesn’t absolve you of the responsibility to be up front and honest with your customers.

• gm agent

Chris, thanks for the reply. To me it’s this kind of mentality,,, say you go to a hamburger joint. You know what you want, you order the food, take a bite out of the burger, go to the counter and say, “I don’t want this. I don’t like it. Give me back my money or else I’m going to sue you!” It’s just ridiculous and doesn’t make any sense. You know for a fact they won’t take it back. You knew exactly what you were doing. So why stress yourself out for over 30-80 bucks? Do you honestly think that a lawyer or attorney general is going to waste their time on that amount of money? Please! Your lawyer and filing fees are going to be triple that amount! It doesn’t make sense. And we are upfront with our customers. If you watch the infomercials, all of the legal information is there. Nigel Williams himself says, give me a chance for 2 weeks with our emagazine. If you’re not satisfied, simply call and cancel within that time. No hassle, no obligation, no worry. Now, how can we get away with that misrepresentation? Especially since the founder of the company states our program explanation. But draw your own conclusions. The terms and conditions are there. People just need to read them and not take a bite of the burger and then not want it.

• Chris

GM Agent,
I don’t agree with your argument. The equivalent would be if you go to a hamburger joint that shows a picture of a nice juicy burger, but then you get it and it’s made out of black beans, and in the fine print they say “Vegetarian burgers only”. Or, if you pay for your nice, $2 hamburger with a credit card and then they charge you every month for their “hamburger club”. That is the equivalent of what Green Millionaire does. It’s not fair to just put your revenue stream in the fine print and say, “it’s your fault for not reading it”. This is misleading advertising. And finally, why pay for the information when we offer the same thing for free on the Mapawatt Blog? :)

• Walt

Dear GM Agent. $30 bucks every 2 months? My accout is being every month. I think since I have not made any waves untill now< you think I am not going to make any noise about being ripped off. Your (fine print) is a load. My tactics are going to be different as to how I will bring light to Your Boss Nigel. Start the document shreders boys. The big guns are comming. And to just name one for you to chew on is the FTC. To add to my misery, the 19.95 for the book was waved, turned up on my bank account a month later. There is a growing community accross the nation that the GM hasen't, won' and will not in the futrue, pass the BS sinff test. The more complaints the more the Feds are going to question wheter or not, there is somthing. What you should be doing is not allow any transactions and provide an "Accept" or "Don't Accept" Box to check with the latter, voiding the transaction, so that way it makes your case to answer the Scam issue to a close. However for now your boss is wide open

• JD

Gm Agent help me out?? I was just like everyone else i feel i got scammed how do i get my money back. I know you know a special trick or a avenue i can take to get my money back ????

• Constance Bryson

If you are not a scam then how is it I have been on the phone for over a hour trying to cancel this scam. I did not give you the authoriity to charge my credit card 89.95 and I want my money back. In good faith you should not hastiate to do so, if you are legimate business. The book is worthless, my grandchildren can use as show and tell but that is all. I was fell for scam and shame on me, I was trying to help reduce the amount of waste for our mother earth but you have allowed me to double it by sending a paper trail and countless microwaves into the atmosphere while I sit on the phone waiting for someone that will never come on the line. How is that for being a green millinaire. Please cancel my subscribtion a.s.a.p as I dont have the money to waste like this. I will send this scam to the better business bureau and the attorney’s general office as well.

• JD

whats ur name i want to speak to you when i call ?

• Gail

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK
THEY CHARGE YOUR ACCOUNT ASAP FOR $89.95 AND IT DOES NOT END WITH THAT. THE BOOK IS WORTHLESS, DON’T BOTHER TO READ IT!

• Abby

Hey people please do not give up and fight back with your Bank,Ccredit Union and BBB Facebook, Twitter what ever you have. Do not take being ripped off. The TV and radio stations or anyone who helps the crooks also need to be brought on on lie or fraud charges. Any way Like most of you, who knew that buying a book had terms and conditions. Like you I have purchased many books and this did not happen. These company’s should ask if it is ok to proceed with taking our mony other wise it is stealing. I fought back and I won. you should too.

• gm agent

i doubt you won. you just didn’t bother reading the terms and conditions and we more than likely credited half of it back.

• gmoomey

gm agent you are an unprofessional assinine jask ass

• gm agent

gmoomey, how am I unprofessional? I’m simply stating the program explanations that the company states and the public ignores. And to your “gm agent you are an unprofessional assinine jask ass” statement, if you’re going to insult me? learn how to spell. Maybe you should order the hooked on phonics program. It may just work for you! You’re really bringing down the learning curve in this country.

• Chris

GM Agent, I think you’re hurting yourself more than you’re helping yourself here bud….

• paapet

gm agent, it seems very unprofessional to belittle people for spelling errors, telling them to order the hooked on phonics program. I wouldn’t want you to represent my company.

• mupo

Oh my goodness, I was taken, they charged my account $895.00 and they wont talk to me, what am I to do, boo! Boo! hoo! I is veby dumb dumb

• Christy

Happened to me too! I’m fine if I didn’t read the fine print and they charge me $29.95. But they charged me $89.95 after 14 days and were quite rude to me when I asked why. I ended up cancelling my card right away and got the money back from my bank! I threw the book away. I didn’t even want to see it anymore. I’m too pissed to even want to read it!

• Frankie

I like most of the ones on this blog was taken. I not only was charged the $1.95 SH for the “free” book, but I also was charged $29.95. I called & raised cane, telling the gal that I was going to put a blog out about their scam & she said they’d refund me only $14.95, when I ask why only part of my money was being returned, she said I signed up for their news letter, which I didn’t. Now I’m sitting here with egg on my face, for being taken by another scammer.

• Yep, there is no way in the world to get rich quick, and if u do find a way be sure to let me know in when I am in hell. However, the only advice i can give is this, everybody has money and u have to make some sort of product to get peoples money, this is one such example but this is pure scam. The only way to get rich is to be aggressive, break the rules, and find a way to take advantage of other people, if this doesn’t sound like something you want to do then you should just go back to working an honest living and being poor all your life. Sounds depressing doesn’t it? well its the truth and thats how things are.

• Chris

Cory, That is a little negative. I suggest just doing what you love, and the money will come!

• Jack

You don’t have to scam or cheat people to get rich. There are plenty of honest companies out there that make MILLIONS and never scam people. How many times have you been scamed by Wal-Mart? Believe it or not, there ARE honest people running honest companies out there and making lots of money from it. If you have half a brain, you could make a good living without cheating people. As a matter of fact, if you want to be RICH, good luck doing it by scamming people all your life.

• Doug

The infomercial has made its’ way to Fox News of all places. It seems they changed up the title a little bit. The website name they use is now http://www.freegreenwealth .com. This may be old info, but at least I was able to come upon this blog/site. Thank you for all the posts. ***TIP*** whenever looking up something on line, always make sure you type in “scam” on your Google search. It will save you so much aggravation. I even recommend doing that before looking at so called bogus products, it will save you aggravation, if not tons of green.

• steve

Thanks for the warning…I almost fell for it. I thought “wow….free” then I visited the website. When I got to the end and they wanted a credit card I figured something was up. One day I’ll learn not to watch late night informercials. Again, Thanks.

• John

Thank you all for your posts. I didn’t find any reports on ripoffreport.com. I thought this company was a ripoff and looked it up on google and found this site. Maybe you can all re report on ripoffreport.com too. A lot of folk check out the bad guys there too.

• Amy

Wow, once again I find that with a little bit of digging, and groovy sites like this, I can avoid nasty cc charges. *I’m* one of the people they HOPE to target… so horribly busy that I find it difficult to cancel things and return them. If I try calling a few times and don’t get through I give up. It’s an expensive habit that I’ve tried to break but I find it’s easier just to avoid the purchase to begin with. The thing is I’m so gullible each time I’m hit with snappy ad copy and add to that my intense curiosity and WHAM, I get SLAMMED all the time.

So, would any of you kind people who have ordered this book and are done with it care to “get them back” by sending it to me??? And then when I’m done, I’ll send it to someone else who asks? I know, but I said I was curious (thank God I’m not a cat!!!)

What if I got a website together that was a “scam exchange” Once you’ve been burned by a company, you can then send their stuff around and around to others so that they don’t get burned as well. Seems like a great way to “get back” at the scammers while supporting each other in an us against them scenario! Any feed back you have on this would be appreciated. You can reach me at amybethfrancis@yahoo.com

• Chris

Amy, it’s not a bad idea. But the problem with the scammers is that the products they are selling usually aren’t even worth the time, effort, postage, etc. to send them to anyone else! I am about 99.9% positive that if you read this blog on a regular basis you will get better information that what is in the “Green Millionaire” book. But of course I would say that :)

• Amy

Chris,

I think you’re right. The thing that “got me” was the hype that you could get solar roofing tiles (or panels) for “FREE”. I’m sorry, when something says “free” it should be FREE (from ANY sort of cash payment), IMHO. I run a website where I give away a chance to play the NY state lotteries for FREE. Now it’s totally free from all cost, you DO have to leave a comment, so it’s not exactly free in that you have to spend a couple of seconds leaving a comment. But no surveys or forms to fill out, nothing to buy. No constantly popping windows trying to sell you something. Just a comment. When I see the word FREE it’s SUPPOSED to mean something. But in this MARKETING AT ANY COST world, our favorite words are used against us.

I’ve been toying with the idea of a website that reviews all the “get rich quick” programs. Where people who have bought the programs can rate them (like an epinions type of site) and if there are gaps, hopefully, with ad revenue the site could pay for itself, that I could purchase the program, try it and rate it, so people wouldn’t be scammed. I know there are review sites, but they are hard to trust, it seems they are trying to sell, at least, one of the programs they review… Anyway, thanks for your input… and it’s crazy, but my curiosity is still not quelled. It’s like I’ve GOT to see what’s inside that book, I am curious to a fault. My idea about the review website is really (underneath it all) me just trying to satisfy my own over-the-top curiosity. And OTHER PEOPLE’S opinions don’t necessarily do it for me. I’m like a kid that, no matter how many times I’ve seen others burned, and no matter how many times *I’ve* been burned by similar things… I’ve still got to stick MY hand into the fire in order to KNOW anything about it.

Anyway, Chris, thanks for your reply. I appreciate it. And I’m off topic so I’ll stop now. Cheers

• jeanie prevatt

i got scammed by Green Millionaire, anyway to get my money back? why would i have to cancel my card?

• TC

If you do not cancel the card the charges will continue. Call your card holder and see if they offer a block service to that company. This usually will cost you a fee.
Best of luck

• Terri

There is nothing worse than a cheater or Thief!!!!!. And I am a strong believer that what goes around comes around and bad things happen to bad people. Whats worse is they don’t deliever what’s promised.
First of all after you order the website doesn’t let you read the terms and conditions. When you click on it nothing happens making you to believe that there are no terms and conditions for that item and then I didn’t even get the so called 14 day free subscription.
Now I know why he is a millionaire and I am apauled that anyone could take advantage of people at times like this when the economy sucks.
Whoever is behind this I hope pays dearly because some lawyer will find you someday.

• Maryette

THANK YOU !!! THANK YOU !!! THANK YOU !!! For being here! I almost went directly to the website freegreenwealth.com to find out how to get free home solar panelling and decided instead to google it first for once (after supporting many scams for years “out there” maybe I’m getting smarter in my old age or maybe it’s a fluke). You have saved me money and I realy appreciate it. However I think Amy and I have a bit in common because I am still curious as to whether they had any real info on how to get free home solar panels? Could one of you who bought the “free” book tell me? If so thank you again, if not you’ve already made my day for helping my credit card escape these no good dirty scoundrels!

• MrB

From their “Terms and Conditions”:
All sales after the free-trial period are final. The Green Millionaire eMagazine fees are non–refundable. All Green Millionaire eMagazine subscription fees after the free–trial period and any renewal date are final.
• MrB

Hey, I’ve got a copy of Kevin Trudeau’s “Debt Secrets” if anyone wants it…That one, I purchased outright for $29.95 and declined all the other crap. However, my inbox became an utter mess with all the spam from spammers he sells your email address to.

• Jennifer

How do we shut these guys down and fast is what I want to know. I own a thrift store, its all about recycling in my world. And now I’ve been recycled with all the others who have been scammed.

• Jennifer

So I went to my bank today and told them to close my card and issue me a new one, they worked with me after I showed them printed from this website that I was not the only one. They also gave me a number that was related to the pending charge. They suggested I call it an ask why did they charge me and to credit my account back. Also get the name of the person I spoke to and my bank would follow up or stop any future debits from that company. The number is 877-213-8238, doesn’t that sound like a cell number to you.
I will call and post what happens next.

• lawrence

thanks for the warning!

• IT SHOULD BE ” I’M GONA BE A GREEN MILLIONAIR BY STEELING YOUR MONEY “

• HEY CHRIS PLEASE PASS THESE COMMENTS, I TRYED NOT TO CUSS AND IT DOES SAY HOW I FEEL AND THANKS FOR THE PLACE TO VENT.

THE BEST THING IS MAY BE WE COULD GET A CONGRESSMAN IN VOLVED ON SOMETHING ABOUT CHARGING YOUR CREDIT CARD WITH MISS INTENTIONS.

CONGRESS COULD MAKE THEM DISCLOSE ALL POSIBLE CHARGES IN THE FIRST OF THERE ADDS NOT HIDE THEM IN THE TERMS AND CONDITION ON HOW TO STEEL YOUR MONEY LEGALY.

• gerald

WELL NOW THAT I HAVE HAD TIME TO COOLDOWN AND READ AND THINK.

STILL POST MY COMMENTS PLEASE.

I CALLED THE NUMBER SOMEONE POSTED HERE, THANK YOU.
WITH GREAT RESTIANT I TALKED TO HE PERSON ( DON’T KILL THE MESSAGER ). IN MY TALK, BECAUSE I DIDN’T BEND THERE EAR , THEY LISTENED. I THINK I GOT LUCKY , THEY REMOVED ALL CONNECTION TO MY CARD , REFUNDED ALL BUT THE FIRST 2.00$ CHARGE. AS I GOT UP OFF THE FLOOR AFTER FALLING OUT OF MY CHAIR, I THANKED THEM. I DO BELIEVE WHAT THEY TOLD ME. AND I WISH TO THANK THEM HERE. THIS SOUNDS CONTRAY TO THE REST OF MOST OF THE COMMENTS IN THIS SITE,I KNOW. BUT TRUE. THIS SHOWS EVEN A DUMMY LIKE ME THAT MAY BE I SHOULD BE A LITTLE MORE DILIGENT AND READ THE FINE PRINT. NO I DON’T LIKE WHAT LED UP TO THIS POINT BUT MOST OF IT WAS MY FAULT FOR BEING TO LAZY TO THINK OUT THE REST OF THE SITUATION AND NOT TO SCEEM FRAUD.
I WISH TO THANK ALL FOR LISTENING TO ME CRY. AND THEN DOING A COMPLETE REVERSE. SO WHEN YOU GET EGG ON YOUR FACE, EAT IT, IT WILL FEED YOUR SOUL. THANKS EVERY BODY.

• Chris

Gerald, I approved *most* of your comments, but…..PLEASE LOSE THE CAPS IN THE FUTURE! We know you are yelling when you write it, but it makes it hard to read :) Glad you got your money back!

• Chip

You know what I do to stop these (insert expletive here)? – I get an american express gift card…then use that to pay the 1.00 – if the card was say only 25.00 to begin with, the larger charge is rejected – end of scam. They really don’t have any recourse…

• Chip

BTW – thanks for the tips folks, glad I did my scam research on this myfreegreen…and you always have the gift card for other uses – :)

• Robert e

Ordered book whent to cancel 2 days later still charged $1.95 then called 6 day later to cancel then charged $89.95\Book tell you nothing new

• Lyn

Thanks for all the heads up. I was going to there sight and I spotted this blog. Didn’t ssend for anything. Thanks for all the warnings!

• DON’T DO IT!!!!! GREEN MILLIONAIRE IS A SCAM…<—That is for all the people who haven't been scammed yet and are thinking about getting this "free" book. Same thing happened to me that happened to everybody else. I called the people, they would not refund my money; 1.95 + 89.95 a month later. All you could do is accept your loses and contact your bank or your credit card company. The reason I say this is because on other sites there are reports of people not being able to contact any customer service reps, or they were told they were going to cancel their "membership" and never received a confirmation of the cancelation, leaving you no choice but to believe that they will continue to charge your account. Its ok , I believe in karma, and even though they cheated people out of their hard earned money and it was within the law, its still dishonest and they got bad karma coming their way.

Hey has anyone who already got ripped-off ever thought about making a PDF of the book and put it online just to stick it to them?

• gary

Thank you, sounds like a lot of folks were caught up like I nearly did.I don’t think i’ll become a millionaire going green, but it would be nice to save some $ and do my part to help our abused planet/home.filled out their little form, but saw a red flag when they wanted a cc# for a $1.95 s&h fee??? which brought me here. it is too bad our country does not have the political will to move away from fossil fuels and the problems they create(you’d think gulf crisis would help focus, but??)
and now the scammers have found “us”. too bad it is a good cause in so many ways.good to see so many like minded folks.

• Chris

You’re right about lack of political will. Americans truly are addicted to cheap energy. It’s the same reason our most popular posts are uncovering scams that promise people they can save tons of money on energy without having to do any work for it.

• Faye

This is terrible, My husband asked me look into order this book for him because it is free and he wanted to know more about it. Now I am not a rocket scientist but I know NOTHING IS FREE. We should all know that and be reminded every time we go to the gas station and see that even air cost fifty cents. I looked at him like he had lost his mind. I would have cut off both of my hands before ordering anything from these people. But what should happen is everyone who has gotten ripped off should go on CRAIGS LIST and sell their copy for little of nothing. Oh the Green Millionaire, will begin to loose money. Do get mad just get even. Oh there is a GOD who can and will empty the Green Millionaire’s POCKET.

MS. Faye

• Ray

Hey, Thanks alot. I was going to check out this site but saw yours first.

• Pete

I almost fell for it. I had seen the infomercial several times.

I suspected either a scam or they were going to try to install viruses on my machine. I checked out the web site from a secured computer and found it was safe to visit. It is just a SCAM. I read the fine print and they have no information from me.

Be safe. Avoid the SCAM

• Tracy

Darn! I was sure looking to see what kind of “free” stuff was going to be in there but, I’m convinced, I won’t waste my time or money. I tried but, my debit card kept getting declined and I don’t know why!TIP… ALWAYS use a “pre-paid” Visa/MC that you load money on. They cost about $5-$10. For things that I want on auto-pay, I use pre-paid cards. If I don’t have the money on there yet, you can’t get yours. When I check my account online and see where someone has tried to debit my card but, it was declined, I “LOL”! Then, I call the preditors and tell them that I cancelled, I’m not interested, and to stop trying to debit my card. I have a few cards that I toggle between but, I stay away from my bank account. That is one sure way to piss me off… trying to debit my bank account for something I don’t want and messing me up with other financial matters. TIP 2… ALWAYS look up the company online before your purchase to see how the buying experience went for others. I threw that one out the window because it was only $1.95 for shipping but, you guys are right… they love to try to tack on more charges when you least expect it.

• Jack

Does anyone have a working phone number to this outfit? The 800 number they supply never works. Thank you.

• Kris

I got suckered by these guys aswell. I just got off the phone with them and they said that since the trial period was over that they could not refund me. The second I mentioned the Better Business Bureau and the attorney general’s office she changed her tune, put me on hold for a minute then came back and said that I will receive an email within 24 hours and a full refund for the $89.95.

• rick

Chris your blog, saved a huge headache, GM is a scam, before I buy or sign up for something free. I always research ie google for whats been said about the place. After reading GM Agents first reply, I was convinced it was a scam, simply because legit companies do not go on blogs to argue about their company. Plus I already found some of the info for free through google and other blogs. Keep up the good work

• GDK

When I saw the ad on TV I immediately thought it was a scam. The topics that they showed on the TV ad can be found for free on the Internet and other publications. I know there had to be a gimmick!

• Susan

The heart of all this would be to: READ everything twice before you press the submit button. Also Buyer …beware! Nothing in this life is for free, everything cost something. The comapny is more than willing to give away books for 1.00, but since you didn’t READ all the information, you find out your purchasing an online magazine, until you cancel it.

So wake up consumers…READ before you click..a little reading will save you a lot of grief.

Take care and BEWARE!

• First of all… “As a green millionaire agent…” WTH? What reputable company needs “agents” trolling the net for negative comments to dispute? Second of all, anyone who bought this book ALMOST deserves to get scammed. Think about it… “Green Millionaire”? Virtually EVERYTHING claiming to make you a millionaire is a scam, it’s just plain common sense! Third of all, just look that the “Nigel” fellow in the commercial. It’s clear that guy is a straight up schmuck. He must have lost his job selling used cars when all the dealers were forced to shut down.

Really anyone who buys this is a pure sucker. Hrmm… lets take the “Green” movement and combine it the age old scam of “get rich quick”… Take some existing ideas, Bio-Deseil car conversions, Solar/Hydro/Geothermal power generation, federal grants, etc etc, repackage it all in a book, and market it as a “revolutionary breakthrough”. Tell everyone they can save the planet AND get rich quick. Some suckers are sure to bite on that line. I mean seriously… even the big govt. bureaucrats haven’t been able to “save the planet”, so what makes anyone think someone is going to pay them to do it? There’s a sucker born every minuite…. or ateast every 30-45 mins that the commercial airs around here. If you did get duped… take comfort in the fact that u aren’t the only one. It appears they’re reeling in all kinds of suckers based on the fact that the commercial is airing more & more frequently.

well the fire has been lit. i just saw my bank transactions!!! (steaming) thank you for the 411. im about to battle with GM for $90.00! unreal… i asked them if there were any more costs and they told me no, and never said after 2 weeks it would happen. sure the fine print is there, but if by phone they lie??? im a diabetic and my eyes are not good, thats why i asked. i was lied to. anyway, we will see what happens tomorrow. they were closed today, which maybe a good thing for us both because im so mad right now and it wouldnt be nice. they took the only money i had left to buy my insulin, so, they better refund it. this is serious ya know??? totally rediculous. some of us are on limited monthly incomes. thanks for caring about others and helping us all out. legally, the law should require the notice of charges in capitol letters for these companies to advertise. it should be a consumer protection guideline for us. well, at least after this website and all you fine people, i do feel much better, thanks…

Well , think about it.
After it’s all said and done,it’s only about
the money.
No one realy wants to help anyone, unless
there’s a chance of personal gaine.
Most big companies will offer a grate
product at low price and even offer it for
free,
So how will they profit?
It’s simple

They take advatage of the consumer with
hidden cons, because they know not every-
one will read all of the fine print.
Who’s fault is it?

BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My husband asked me to go online and get him this free book. As soon as I got to the website, I just thought it looked like one of these scam sites and boy was I right! I asked him are you sure that this is a legitimate site and he said of couse, it’s on Planet Green, Discovery channel and others, it’s got to be a safe! Well I used our debit account and paid for the s/h and got our book. The book, by the way, is pretty much a big advertisement for all these companys. I go online this morning to check on our activity in the bank account and see that they are going to debit us $89.95! I called them immediately this morning asking what in the world this charge was all about??? They said that they informed everyone in the commercial as well as when I entered my account information that they there is a “FREE” trial for so many days of their emailed newsletter for 1 yr and whatever other crap they’re trying to sell. I said I NEVER ONCE saw anything at all about this charge when I was checking out esp since it already looked fishy to me. I said that is alot of money to us and we can not afford this! She initially said she would not be able to do anything since the trial offer exp 2 days ago and then she said she’d give me only half back and I said, NO, that is unacceptable!!! I want a full refund. I asked to talk to her supervisor, she put me on hold and came back and said that she will be able to issue a full refund due to our situation. That was after I told her that we can not put food on the table and that I was going to tell everyone about what a scam they are!!!! Now I know how they make their millions!!!!!! On these poor people that want to get a little more information on living green and saving money. They should be ashamed of themselves. I’m cancelling our debit cards today!!!!

Well, I am glad I found this in google just in time , I think. I have 4 days left on my trial period and because when I tried to click on as the book instructs to Learn More, it kept putting me back to the order page?? I called them and they said the site must not be working. Dan was the rep and he was very nice. He did try to extend my trial period and is sending me the free solar report…He says. Anyway I THINK I am not getting any more charges. I will let everyone know after I get my credit card bill. He even sent me an email confirming my cancelation. The problem is just like you are all saying: WE MUST READ THE FINE PRINT . The invoice clearly states that you will be charged the 29.95 BUT it was NEVER discussed with me at the time I ordered the 1.95 book so that part is NOT RIGHT.I had NO clue AT ALL that there would be ANY further charges. If not for this site, and checking my invoice after reading all this- I too, would have been stuck.
I did read the entire book and it is simple steps that I have already been doing all my life since I am a cheapskate anyway.
There was nothing new and most of it our mothers told us or is common sense. By the way, the two newsletters that I received were of little value either. They went to my junk mail because I did not even know I was getting a newsletter and did not know to look for one! IT WAS NEVER EVEN MENTIONED.
Buyer beware. They prey on the trusting.

ALWAYS USE A PREPAID CARD AND U WILL NEVER HAVE THIS HAPPEN AGAIN.

• Brenda

well i called them monday and told them about this money charged. she tells me about the notice was right there and all that garbage. i disagreed and wanted my refund. she said they could only give me $25.00, hahaha… i said thats not good enough i want all of it because its for my insulin and im not gonna die over your book crap. she put me on hold to ask her boss. come back and tells me i get all of it back within next 7-14 days. im not buying no more online. thanks you all. bybye.

• Bill

You know Brenda, your final statement would be good advise to anyone and everyone, That being I’m not buying anything online, ever again. Thats the best advise you could give to everyone who uses their PC to shop or buy anything.
It’s really a shame how the internet lends itself to shams etc. The internet could be so useful in so many ways but “no” a person must even guard his or her identy for example just to check out such an offer. Of course any mature adult knows better but like yourself “one keeps hoping” and because of that we keep on trying don’t we?

• adam

I ordered the “Free” Book, because I am interested in the information, but I do not want the magazine that they charge you more for. If I cancel the subscription within 14 days, as it is stated on the website, will I not get charged? Did anyone else bother to call the company to cancel in the free trial period?

• vgatl

@ GM Agent…I was just about to order the book & decided to do some research stumbled on this site and saw your comment.. “I take countless calls from customers like yourselves every day bitching of how they were charged and scammed.”…Wow, you call yourself an agent for this company and use such unprofessional and vulgar language to talk about customers. Needless to say I will not be ordering anything from this company. Free means free, this book is not free and this is false advertising and should be illegal.

• Julianne

I wrote to Discovery Channel, asking them to read this blog and stop airing the GM. You all should do the same.
Supply them with enough information to get to the comment field and type your displeasure with the commercial. http://corporate.discovery.com/contact/viewer-relations/
There is power in numbers.
Remember, we are America Rising!!!
If you saw it on another channel, find that website and make it available to everyone too.
Good Luck,
JUL

I got the charge for $1.95 then 14 days later the $89.95. I called to get the speach about how I ordered a year of the program for $89.95, but since I didn’t want it they would cancel the program for me. No refund. I got the employee #, date, time and asked for a supervisor. The original employee came back on phone with a $45 refund aproved by supervisor. I did not accept. She said the supt would call backafter the nest phone call. No call back. I called them later in the day. Gave accurate records to a second supt, James # 32462, who was extreemly cordial, apoligetic about the mis comunications and “wanted me to leave have a good feeling about my dealing with his company” He says he is refunding all my money. This guy is going to do well in businees for his company. So I am content with the situation if I do get my money back. I will now read the book and see if I ming profoit from the Yearly program.
All is good if Isee my money back.
