Hojo Motor is a Scam!

The Hojo Motor is a scam. If you purchased the Hojo Motor plans before reading this post, I'm sorry, you got scammed. If you purchase the Hojo Motor plans after reading this post, you are dumb. Plain and simple. I'm sorry to use harsh words here, but sometimes it's necessary to be blunt in order to get your point across.

We've been down this path before, with the Magniwork scam. In fact, Magniwork has been our most popular post, and has led us to post Renewable Energy Scams. As you can see from that post, there is no shortage of scams out there trying to take advantage of the energy ignorant.

I don't care that on the web page for the Hojo plan they show some patents (see the bottom of this post for information regarding said patents) for a some kind of magnetic perpetual motion machine. I'm not even going to get into the discussion on the laws of thermodynamics. What I will tell you is if some kind of free energy generator was real, I would be the first person to have it. You wouldn't hear about some free energy generator from some Google ad, you would hear about it because the President is talking about it on the world stage. It would be the biggest breakthrough in the 21st century. And you think you are going to buy some plans for $49.97? (side note: ClickBank sells these plans along with many other scams, and they should be fined by the Federal Trade Commission)

Hank Mills wrote a great "Letter to Hojo Motor Plan Scammers" in which he stated:

Howard Johnson was a brilliant inventor. You got that one fact correct. However, his technologies were never fully developed, and were still very experimental when he died. Even if he was able to create motion in an experimental test rig (after hundreds or thousands of hours of work), it was not ready to power a home, an appliance, or even a very light load like a light bulb. The idea that someone could take plans for his device, and build a system capable of powering their home, is totally absurd. Unless of course, they had tens of thousands of dollars to spend, months to experiment just to make a motor self-sustain, and even more time and money to do the research and development needed to do anything practical with it.

Don't think we know what we're talking about? Fine, buy the plans and make a fool of yourself. For everyone else out there, focus your time on conserving energy , producing real clean energy, and living more sustainably.

Regarding the Patent Claims, below is what I received from a friend who is a patent attorney:

First, if he got a patent on this "secret" invention that was just released, then it couldn't have been secret, since getting a patent means publicly disclosing the invention. Patents don't certify that free energy works, the patents simple certify that his magnetic motor works as a magnetic motor

Regarding the patents: I"ve pasted the first independent claim of each of the patents so you can start learning what patents really cover. The claims are the legal bounds of the patent and define what the inventor is actually protecting. As you will so, there is no language in any of these claims that says free energy, pertetual motion, etc.

4,151,431 patent expired in 1999.
It Claims: A permanent magnet motor comprising, in combination, a stator track defining a track direction and having first and second sides and composed of a plurality of track permanent magnets each having first and second poles of opposite polarity, said magnets being disposed in side-by-side relationship having a spacing between adjacent magnets and like poles defining said track sides, an elongated armature permanent magnet located on one of said track sides for relative movement thereto and in spaced relationship to said track side wherein an air gap exists between said armature magnet and said track magnets, said armature magnet having first and second poles of opposite polarity located at the opposite ends of said armature magnet defining the length thereof, the length of said armature magnet being disposed in a direction in general alignment with the direction of said track, the spacing of said armature magnet poles from said track associated side and the length of said armature magnet as related to the width and spacing of said track magnets in the direction of said track being such as to impose a continuous force on said armature magnet in said general direction of said track.

(claim and EXTREMELY narrow vehicle with some sort of magnetic propulsion motor, nothing more)

It is annoying how many people get up in arms about patents when they just take for granted what someone who is clearly also not a patent person tells them. Always always always read the claims of the patent before making any comments about what the patent supposedly covers.

this is not a debate, this is a few idiots pushing to sell this garbage who know it to be garbage while pretending to have no association with the seller. then there are a few fools who fantasize that it could word who are following blindly but still want someone else to do it because they dont have the means to do it themselves. the rest of the comments on here are by the realistic people who understand simple physics and want proof not someone selling them swampland. they like the idea as anyone would but recognize the scam at work and are trying to convince the fools they are fools. let the poor fools spend their money and realize or not their fantasy. let the scammers go to jail for fraud. sure they will probably close up shop and open in another name before this could happen. they have probably done this before under many names. dont try to stop them, let them bury themselves. they are criminals and can only be stopped if there is evidence of their crime.

James T., I am very scared that you advocate taking energy from alternate dimensions. Once humans start building these machines en masse, those beings from the dimension that we're STEALING power from will come to our dimension to ANNIHILATE us!!! No one bit. Oh well... I know how generators and alternators work, with a conductor (copper wire) cutting perpendicularly through a magnetic field. Either the magnetic field producer is stationary or rotating, and the wire generating the current is either rotating or stationary (one has to be rotating, the other stationary). The current induced in the wire creates a magnetic field of its own that opposes the original magnetic field, causing an opposing force to the motivating force rotating the generator/alternator. The more current extracted from the generator/alternator, the greater this opposing force. But the important thing is that either the source of the magnetic field or the conductor must be moving, and the other must be stationary. The above is classical electrical physics. A person cranking a telephone generator connected to a neon glow lamp (a few mA) will not feel much resistance to the cranking. Now connect that generator to a 100 watt lamp, and it will be well nie unto impossible to crank the generator (at least for long) to get the lamp to glow at full brightness. Maybe a gorilla, but not any human that I know of. The Faraday disk, is another matter, and I challenge any hard core skeptic to tell me how it works. I wish I know how it works. Faraday did not know how it worked, and neither do any one I know. All I can say is that it does work. All you need is a shaft in bearings. Take a disk shaped magnet with the magnetic field going from face to face, and mount it to a stationary object with the shaft going through it. Then place a copper disk on the shaft close to the magnet and turn the shaft. Magnet stationary, disk rotating. Measure the electrical potential from the center of the disk to the outer edge of the disk. There is a (very small) potential there, but it will crank out a lot of current. And there is no resistance to cranking the disk, no matter how much current is extracted. If that was not strange enough, you can take that disk magnet, and cement it to the copper disk... epoxy or something. Then turn the magnet/disk assembly, and guess what? You still get an electrical potential from the center of the disk to the edge of the disk. There have been those who have taken this and tried to make over unity devices. Whether or not they worked, is something I will not argue about, as I have not seen any of them in person. However, there is something that I will call "extra-newtonian physics" going on here. In theory one should be able to make an over unity device. However, the issue is that the electrical potential (voltage) is quite small, but the things have an ability to generate a huge amount of current. There have been some people that have used liquid metal as the brushes, but even that has too much drag. Others have had multiple disks, and wired them in series, but then the drag of the brushes adds up, and introduces much friction resistance to the rotation of the device. My point is not to argue for the existance of over unity devices. My point is that there are phenomenon that cannot be explained with the laws of thermodynamics, calculus or classical physics. This is one of them. If you are interested in what I have described, then study about the late Bruce DePalma. He was the best known of a number of folks who tried to tap this energy, but he had the paranoid disease, and was secretave about his work, and had a taste for an excess of EToH and psychedelics. However, that does not negate the phenom or the very strange nature of what I have described. Best, A

Monsieur ADT: Have you actally tried cranking a Faraday disc? I have not, but I have swung a magnetic pendulum bob over an aluminum plate, and the damping action (resistance to the swinging motion) was very strong. I encourage you to read the Wikipedia article on "eddy currents". It describes a brake mechanism that sounds a lot like an aluminum Faraday disc with no brushes. (And no, I am not the author of the article!)

Arno, Actually, yes, I have cranked a faraday disk. It was not mine, (I am too busy to try to invent something that I don't think would work), but an acquaintence. Just a simple little hand cranked gizmo, no claims to over unity. It did create a tiny potential. (it had a geared up pully thing, so that the disk spun faster than the crank). There was indeed a tiny potential. I felt no eddy effect, though I know exactly what you speak of. I have a ballance that uses the same effect to dampen the swing. I think that since the magnetic field was symetric over the entire disk, that would negate such currents, especially since there was a small current flowing through the meter. Even if there were eddy currents, that still does not explain the disk with the magnet cemented to it. I cranked that too, and yes, it created the same tiny potential. I do not have any rational explination for this. Why would the magnet and the disk create a potential when they both spun together? I always thought (and was taught) that in order to induce a current in a conductor, it had to be moved through a magnetic field or the magnetic field had to be moving. In this case, that is not the situation. Fortunately (for my sanity) the contraption did not produce a potential when stationary, otherwise, that would a genuine PPM machine, which like most folks here, cannot exist in normal every day physics. There are strange physics here that I do not understand, and I am one that will stand up and call any sales pitch for a perpetual machine what it is. Best, A
