Mapawatt has not personally tested the eMonitor

While we have not personally tested the eMonitor we would recommend it for those who want to dig deep into their energy consumption and are willing to pay the monthly monitoring fee (required for 2 years) for online hosting of the data.   The biggest complaint on the eMonitor seems to be the requirement of the monitoring fee.  The online monitoring feature is more than just data hosting, as there are some nice features including appliance health and performance monitoring and alerts by text or e-mail, along with all the nice graphs.  But as a user of the eMonitor, you have to figure out if all of that is worth $7.99 to you.  If you think that the added features of the eMonitor's online data hosting, alerts, mobile apps, etc. will provide value to you (on top of the initial purchase price), then we believe this would be a great product for you.

If you still want a whole home energy monitor, but don't want to pay a monthly fee, check out the eGauge or the ecodog....
